Camilla's career
After studying music at a very famous academy in Stockholm, Camilla started her professional career as an opera singer in the early 90’s. Prior to that she was a regular performer in different jazz clubs in Stockholm and travelled throughout Europe on musical tours until her singing led her to London where she signed a record contract with A&M Records as the lead singer in a band called One 2 Many. It was during this time she met her husband singer/songwriter Colin Vearncombe known as “Black” and author of ‘Wonderful Life’. Camilla and Colin moved to West Cork in 2003 and now have 3 sons. The house where they live literally marks the end of a long road but the same cannot be said for Camilla’s career.
Apart from her successful solo career, she also plays a significant part in the musical project “Dogtail Soup” that stages wildly eclectic, large scale performances at home and abroad. The group includes musicians Colin Vearncombe (Black) Fergus O’Farrell (Interference) Maurice Seezer and Paul Tiernan and is often joined by prominent guests and the Wild West Choir which Camilla personally formed in 2006. They have recently completely a tour of Eastern Europe that was received ecstatically by audiences who, along with others fortunate enough to see one of their shows, were mesmerised by the sheer joy, musical brilliance and professionalism of their performance. Camilla has trained with several prominent teachers and artists and her list of performances is long and varied. Her tours with Colin have extended to South Africa, Europe and the UK.
So what more can be said about Camilla? – except that she is worth every second you spend with her and that so long as she continues to sing, she will continue to offer her audience the beauty and excitement that only music can give you!
